Detroit Tigers SP Rick Porcello was given the Tigers Rookie of the Year award by the Detroit Sports Broadcasters Association, according to Jason Beck of MLB.com. He became the first MLB pitcher since Dwight Gooden to earn at least 14 victories in a season at age 20 or younger.

The Associated Press reports Detroit Tigers SP Rick Porcello allowed an earned run on four hits and two walks while fanning eight Minnesota Twins in 5 2/3 innings in the tiebreaker game Tuesday, Oct. 6. He didn't figure into the decision.
