Wolf, recovering from a hyperextended elbow, has made steady improvement since receiving a Wednesday cortisone injection to battle discomfort stemming from Tuesday's bullpen session in Arizona. He suffered the injury swinging a bat on Sept. 2. "The only pitch that didn't feel good in the bullpen in Arizona was a curveball, and the first one today felt great," said Wolf. "I let it go today, and it felt great. Another indicator is how it feels tomorrow, but I expect to feel fine. I should be ready to go Tuesday." Wolf is 10-6 with a 3.22 ERA and his .228 opponents batting average is seventh-lowest in the league.

According to the Chicago Tribune, Dodgers' starter Randy Wolf received a cortisone shot in his injured elbow. Wolf was scratched from his last start after injuring himself hitting.

Our View: Wolf has been the DOdgers' most consistent pitcher as of late, so hopefully the cortisone shot did its job. He isn't expected to miss another start, but stay tuned just in case.

Wolf said he felt the injury while swinging the bat during an Aug. 31 win over the D-backs, a game in which he allowed two runs in six innings. He made his next start Sept. 5 against San Diego, allowing two runs in seven innings in his 10th win. But during a bullpen session before Tuesday night's game in Arizona, Wolf felt stiffness and tried to compensate by changing his mechanics, at which point the decision was made to send him to Los Angeles for an exam. Dr. Neal ElAttrache administered a cortisone injection Wednesday to calm "irritation," according to trainer Stan Conte. Manager Joe Torre said he was optimistic that Wolf -- a free agent after this season -- would miss only one start. Hiroki Kuroda will start for Wolf on Friday night.

"He really didn't have a whole lot of pain, just a little bit of tightness," trainer Stan Conte said before the Dodgers faced the Arizona Diamondbacks on Wednesday night. "It doesn't seem to be really serious." Wolf was scheduled to pitch for the NL West leaders in the opener of a weekend series at San Francisco.
