The 31-year-old Salazar has played in 17 games for the Orioles this year, hitting .419 (13-for-31) with two homers, six RBI and four runs scored. The veteran infielder hit .284 in 34 games with the O's last season, his first in the Majors since he suited up for the Tigers in '02. Salazar doesn't figure to have much fantasy impact save for the deepest of NL-only leagues.

Oscar Salazar has been traded to the San Diego Padres in exchange for relief pitcher Cla Meredith, according to ESPN. Salazar is hitting .419 in 31 at-bats with the O's this season.

Our View: Salazar proved in limited time this season that he is capable of hitting at this level, and he could very well get more of a chance in San Diego. Depending on the playing time he gets, he could begin to register on fantasy radars for the second half.

ESPN is reporting that the Padres have traded pitcher Cla Meredith to Baltimore in exchange for infielder Oscar Salazar. Meredith is 4-2 on the season in 35 appearances out of the bullpen.

Our View: Meredith has a 4.17 ERA, which isn't great for a relief pitcher. He has lost his last two decisions, but he still has the potential to be a solid middle relief guy. He will join the O's bullpen this week, and his fantasy value will remain unchanged.
