Our View: Looks like the Twins are trying to keep pace with the Tigers in the AL Central. Adding Cabrera gives them a good glove at short and an upgrade at the plate. He has also been red hot in the month of July. Ladendorf gives the A's a productive, young, cheap shortstop (Billy Beane's specialty) who could be major league ready in two or three years. This season in Class-A he's hitting .322 with four homers, 21 RBI and three steals in 121 at-bats. Looks like the deal is win-win for both sides.

With only about $1.5 million remaining on his contract, he'd be an afforadable option for the Twinkies.

Given his status as a respectable hitter, it seems likely that Cabrera's road average should correct itself.
