Oliver Perez couldn't find the plate in his latest start Wednesday afternoon against Pittsburgh. He walked five batters and lasted just 1 2/3 innings as he gave up seven runs. Only two of them were earned, though, as an error by Luis Castillo on a tailor-made double play ball in the second inning opened up the flood gates. Perez gave up two hits and struck out two batters in a loss that dropped him to 2-2 on the season. [...]

Status: D.L.. Out for the season
Mets transferred LHP Oliver Perez to the 60-day disabled list. Perez underwent successful knee surgery at the beginning of September and is expected to be at full strength by the start of spring training next season. He finished 2009 with a 3-4 record, 6.82 ERA and 1.92 WHIP.
