The Associated Press reports Cincinnati Reds SP Micah Owings allowed one earned run over six innings Sunday, June 28, to improve to 5-8 on the year. Owings gave up four walks and five hits while striking out four in the game. The win was OwingsÂ’ second in eight starts since May 21.

News: The Reds gave him a lot of run support and starter Micah Owings did the rest on Sunday against the Indians. Owings gave up just one lone run on Sunday on five hits over six sharp innings. He walked four and had four strikeouts. Cincinnati supported him with four runs in the third inning and three more in the fifth for a comfortable 7-1 lead before he left the game. Owings only real issue was throwing 101 pitches in only six frames. His ERA is at 4.63 on the year and his record improves to 5-8 for the year. [...]

Micah Owings allowed four walks and five hits over six innings on Sunday, but found a way to work out of jams. He only allowed one run and struck out four in the Reds' 8-1 win over the Indians.
Our View: Owings improved to 5-8 on the season and lowered his ERA to 4.63. Not the best fantasy starter, but he has allowed two runs or less in four of his last five starts.

Micah Owings picked up the win on Sunday after allowing one earned run on five hits and four walks with four strikeouts over six innings against the Indians.
Analysis: The Reds' staff needed a solid outing in the worst way on Sunday -- Cincinnati starters were just 1-3 with a 9.90 ERA in the first four games of their current road trip -- and they got one from Owings who notched Cincy's first quality start since June 21. Although he walked four batters and needed 106 pitches to make his way through just six innings, Reds manager Dusty Baker -- not to mention Owings owners -- should be mostly pleased by the righty's latest start. He'll next take to the hill July 4 against the Cardinals.
