Scott Merkin, of MLB.com, reports Chicago White Sox OF Mark Kotsay will continue to serve as the fourth outfielder, as well as a replacement for 1B Paul Konerko at first base. Kotsay can also serve the designated-hitter role.

The Chicago White Sox have announced that the team has reached on agreement on a one-year, $1.5 million deal with Mark Kotsay, according to reporter Joe Cowley. Kotsay is expected to be a key reserve for the team next season.
Our View: Kotsay was a favorite of manager Ozzie Guillen, so it comes as no surprise that he will be back for another season. He won't hold any fantasy value as a reserve, but he will be a nice piece for the Sox to use off the bench.

Kotsay, 33, hit a combined .278 with four home runs and 23 RBIs in 67 games with Boston and the White Sox in 2009. He was acquired from the Red Sox on July 28 in exchange for outfielder Brian Anderson and went 33-for-113 (.292) with three home runs and 18 RBIs in 40 games with Chicago. Unless injuries strike the White Sox roster, Kotsay will see limited time as a backup first baseman and outfielder again in 2010.
