San Diego hurler Josh Banks won his third game of the season tonight, but did not do it in impressive fashion, giving up five earned runs in 5.2 innings.Banks allowed just one earned run in his first 23 innings this season, but in his last 23.1 innings, he has given up 17 runs. It might be wise to look somewhere else for pitching help in fantasy leagues.

Banks, who served up two homers on Saturday, has allowed seven long balls in his last four appearances. His 19-to-36 ground ball-to-fly ball in that time frame is a good explanation for the abundance of long balls, so he'll have to turn around that ratio if he wishes to stem the home run onslaught. Banks likely will take his next turn in the rotation on August 1 at home against the Giants.
