Reyes to play in Florida before rejoining team
The New York Post is reporting that Jose Reyes will play a few games in Florida before returning to the Mets on June 5. Reyes is on the DL with a strained right calf.
Our View: Reyes will be with the team this weekend and then go to Florida early next week for a few games before returning to the lineup on Friday. He is expected to be fine when he is eligible to come off the DL, so expect him back in fantasy lineups a week from today.

News: The New York Post reports that Mets SS Jose B. Reyes will head to Florida following this weekend's series with the Marlins to get into some game action before coming off the disabled list. Reyes, who has missed eight of the team's past 11 games, is still struggling with tendinitis in his right calf. The move is retroactive to May 22, when he took himself out of the game in the third inning. Ramon Martinez made his sixth start of the season in Reyes' place Tuesday, while the Mets also acquired veteran infielder Wilson Valdez from the Indians for cash considerations. With Church and Carlos Beltran sidelined, Fernando Martinez will get his fair share of starts in the outfield. He's worth stashing away in keeper leagues, coming off a Minor League stint in which he batted .291 with eight home runs for Buffalo.
Mets put Reyes, Church on DL, Beltran out 3 days
The banged-up New York Mets put All-Star shortstop Jose Reyes and outfielder Ryan Church on the disabled list Tuesday, the latest setbacks for a team hobbled all season by injuries.
Mets | Reyes to DL
Brian Costa, of The Star-Ledger, reports the New York Mets placed SS Jose Reyes (calf) on the 15-day disabled list Tuesday, May 26.
Mets get Valdez from Indians
The New York Daily News reports that the Mets have acquired infielder Wilson Valdez from the Indians for cash considerations.
Our View: The Mets needed another infielder with Jose Reyes landing on the DL and he will likely be used in defensive situations. He joins the active roster instantly, but is not a fantasy worthy performer in any format.

The banged-up Mets have put All-Star shortstop Jose Reyes and outfielder Ryan Church on the 15-day disabled list.
Reyes lands on DL
According to the Newark Star-Ledger, as expected the Mets placed shortstop Jose Reyes on the 15-day disabled list with a strained calf.
Our View: The move is retroactive to last Wednesday and was likely made so that Reyes could just sit out until he's 100 percent. The last time he tried to come back early he re-injured the calf.

Mets | Reyes sits again
The Associated Press reports New York Mets SS Jose Reyes (calf) was out of the lineup Monday, May 25, for the eighth time in 11 games. He could go on the disabled list if he isn't ready to play by Friday, May 29.

The short-handed Mets likely will decide Friday whether to put
News: The short-handed Mets likely will decide Friday whether to put SS Jose B. Reyes on the disabled list. Reyes hasn't played since Wednesday after hurting his right calf at Los Angeles, an injury that kept him out of seven games on a 10-game trip. He tested his legs before Monday night's series opener against Washington but didn't run hard. "It's not ready yet to go full speed," Reyes said. He hopes to return when the leg feels about 80-85 percent. If he isn't ready by Friday, the Mets would put him on the DL and backdate the move. "Sometimes his 80 or 90 might be better than what we have," Mets manager Jerry Manuel said. [...]
Reyes acknowledged that he won't be 100 percent for a few weeks
Reyes acknowledged that he won't be 100 percent for a few weeks and that the lingering pain could hinder his aggressiveness on the basepaths, but Manager Jerry Manuel has said that he would plug Reyes into the lineup if he were around 90 percent. Manuel also mentioned the possibility of placing Reyes on the disabled list if he can't play by Friday, when New York opens a three-game set with Florida. The move would be retroactive to last Wednesday, when Reyes left a game in Los Angeles in the third inning. "If he's not ready by Friday, we wouldn't be losing as many days on the DL going forward," Manuel said.
Reyes may head to DL
The AP reports that the Mets will wait until Friday before deciding whether or not to place Jose Reyes on the DL due to his strained calf. He has missed seven of his last 10 games. He says he will play once the leg is up to 80-85 percent.
Our View: If he is placed on the DL, it will be retroactive to last Wednesday. It seems to make more sense to let the leg get back to 100 percent as there is three-quarters of the season left to play. The last time he tried to play, he only lasted a few innings before furthering the injury. We will keep you posted as more information is made available, but it is best to leave him out of your lineups until you know for certain.

Reyes missed five straight games last week because of the tendinitis behind the knee. Reyes, admittedly playing at less than 100 percent, felt significant pain while attempting to beat out a ground ball in the third inning. "He felt some pain and discomfort," Mets manager Jerry Manuel said. "It was obvious that he was struggling. But how much damage he had done or was it just a shock of pain, we don't know." Reyes did not join his teammates on the field for the bottom of the inning, replaced at shortstop by Ramon Martinez. Complicating the situation is the fact that regular backup Alex Cora is already on the DL with a torn ligament in his right thumb and could be out for several weeks. Martinez, forced to fly across the country and start Monday's game with both Reyes and Cora injured, is hardly an everyday player.
Mets shortstop Jose B. Reyes was replaced by Ramon Martinez
News: Mets shortstop Jose B. Reyes was replaced by Ramon Martinez in the bottom of the third inning after aggravating a troublesome right calf that forced him to miss five games. The Mets' all-time stolen base leader tried to leg out a grounder deep in the hole on the right side of the infield, but was thrown out by second baseman Orlando Hudson, who made a one-hop throw from the outfield grass. "I think it happened in that at-bat," manager Jerry Manuel said. "I saw some grimacing during the AB. Then once he hit the ball and put it in play, he felt some pain and discomfort. It was obvious that he was struggling with it. How much damage there is, we don't know." [...]

Don't expect Reyes to immediately begin playing the frenetic style of baseball for which he is known. Sitting due to tendinitis in his right calf over the past five games, Reyes is hardly 100 percent. He isn't likely to steal many bases or even run at full speed if he does not have to. "Until he gets out there, he won't feel right," manager Jerry Manuel said. "The test now is on the field. We'll see how he handles that." Mets SS Jose B. Reyes' calf tightened up on him during the cross-country
News: Mets SS Jose B. Reyes' calf tightened up on him during the cross-country flight and was not listed in the team's starting lineup on Thursday, the team said. He was scratched from the original lineup and replaced at shortstop by Alex Cora, who was set to bat second. Second baseman Luis Castillo moved into Reyes' leadoff spot. "Reyes could play, but having a tight calf we thought it best if we could give him a day if we could," manager Jerry Manuel said in San Francisco. "Could he pinch hit? Sure. If there was an emergency, could he play? Sure. He's one of the warriors on this team - he just needs to tone down his baserunning a little bit." TMR not as high on Reyes as othersFrom ESPN.com's Matthew Berry: "It's not as if I hate him. He's still a stud, and he's traditionally a slow starter, so I expect him to turn it around. And he has been running crazy lately. But I dropped Reyes to No. 17 in my recent Top 250 because his two most valuable assets -- speed and being a shortstop -- are both in greater supply this year than they have been in recent seasons. Therefore I don't value those attributes as much as I would have at the beginning of the season."Talented Mr. RotoThu, May 14 [...]

Status: D.L.. Done for season
Jose Reyes (hamstring) is walking freely without crutches. "He’s not 100%, obviously, at this point, but he looks great," said his agent Chris Leible. Reyes underwent surgery to repair a torn right hamstring tendon in October. Barring any unforeseen setbacks, the 26-year-old shortstop is expected to be fully recovered in time for the start of the spring training.
