This was the Lester fantasy owners have been waiting for all year. His fastball was biting all day, routinely registering in the mid 90s and topping out at 96. His velocity continued to increase during the outing, which helped him steer clear of that one big inning in the middle of the game that has been his Achilles heel this year. The smoke-throwing southpaw is on tap to hurl again on June 6 vs. the powerful Rangers.

Jon Lester was outstanding on Sunday as he picked up the win for the Red Sox. Lester went six innings and allowed one run on three hits while walking three and striking out 12.
Our View: This is what Lester owners have been expecting to see all year. 12 K's it amazing for a guy who only went six innings, but it just goes to show you how good he really is. Hopefully he uses this start as a springboard for the rest of the season, because he has the stuff to do this every time out.
