The Atlanta Braves will not offer salary arbitration to free-agent RP John Smoltz (shoulder), according to Mark Bowman of MLB.com. The team is hoping to re-sign him, but they would like to get a better sense of his health before settling upon any contractual details.

John Smoltz won't be offered salary arbitration by the Braves, according to MLB.com.The club still hopes to re-sign the 41-year-old hurler, but won't know if he'll be able to pitch again until he begins to throw in mid-to-late December, which why they won't take the risk of offering him arbitration.
