And then the bullpen gave up the lead and Lannan settled for a no decision. Lannan pitched eight strong innings and gave up only one run on five hits. Our View: Perez simply can't find the strike zone in 2008, and is giving the Mets and their anemic offsense little chance of competing whenever he takes the mound. Unless you think WHIP is some new age, facny schmancy statistic, he shouldn't be within 100 miles of your team.

Our View: Lannan continues to pitch well, but his lines are never overwelmingly impressive. He can be useful in all leagues, but his value isn't great considering the low strikeout rate and the fact that he plays for the Nats.

John Lannan allowed three earned runs on nine hits and a walk over eight innings of work against Atlanta on Saturday and emerged with the win, his sixth.

Analysis: Lannan isn't much of a strikeout artist -- he owns just 48/38 K/BB ratio in 107 innings -- and pitches for a very bad team, but he has officially emerged as the Nationals' go-to workhorse and a very appealing option in NL-only leagues. Lannan has won his last four decisions, and has a nice 3.45 ERA (if also a somewhat less nice 1.35 WHIP) on the season. Think of him as a less-established, less-dominant NL version of Mark Buehrle, though, and you're on the right track. He'll take the mound next in Houston, on July 9.
