Johan Santana struck out eight over six innings but allowed three runs on four hits, enough for the Yankees to defeat the Mets 3-2 on Saturday afternoon. Santana walked four losing a career-worst four straight decisions.Santana has pitched well to win the four games he's lost. In the left-handers last five starts he's recorded a 2.53 ERA.

It will be an exciting battle for the Big Apple today as the Yankees and Mets face off with aces on the mound, the Yanks sending Andy Pettitte to the hill against the Mets' Johan Santana, according to the Sports Network.Over his last three starts Pettitte has surrendered just one run in 21 innings. He also enters today's tilt with a 19-inning scoreless streak, his longest since a 23-frame run in 1997. Pettitte lost to the Mets earlier in the year and is 7-4 lifetime against them with a 3.48 ERA. Santana lost his second straight start and third consecutive decision on Monday against Seattle, as he allowed five runs (one earned) and seven hits in seven innings. Santana defeated Pettitte and the Yankees back on May 17, upping his career mark against them to 4-0 to go along with a 2.98 ERA.

A Mets source close to Omar Minaya told Jon Heyman of SI.com that the reason Minaya still has his job is strictly because of the three-year extension the GM signed in October 2008. Minaya is certainly on very thin ice, and Heyman believes manager Jerry Manuel is in a better position to last longer in the organization. The Mets are willing to spend in free agency, so Minaya will have the chance to build a contending team. If New York falls flat on their face again, you can bet Omar will be on the way out.
