Forced to miss more than three weeks of camp while tending to a sore elbow, Devine suffered a setback while facing the host Dodgers on Monday. Devine, who'd been penciled in to share the closer's role with Brad Ziegler early in the season, is expected to miss a minimum of three weeks. Losing Devine, who went 6-1 with a 0.59 ERA in 42 appearances last season, leaves Ziegler, who went 3-0 with a 1.06 ERA in 47 appearances, as manager Bob Geren's No. 1 ninth-inning option.

Status: D.L.. Out for the season
Joey Devine played catch Saturday for the first time since undergoing Tommy John Surgery in April. Devine is aiming to be at full health by the start of spring training 2010. If he reaches his goal, there's a good chance he'll be battling Andrew Bailey for ninth-inning duties next season.
