Despite his recent struggles, Weaver has still been a steady source of Ks -- nine each in his last two starts -- but that wasn't the case on Saturday, in what was the emerging righty's shortest outing of the season. The right-hander improved his K/BB ratio to 113/38 as he racked up at least eight Ks for the sixth time this season. With a 10-3 record and a 3.28 ERA heading into the All-Star break, Weaver seems to finally be turning his prodigious talent into top-notch big league results. Don�t be surprised if he makes a major Cy Young push in the second half.

Jered Weaver allowed three earned runs on seven hits and struck out nine and walked just one over seven innings against Texas on Monday. He earned his ninth win.

Analysis: Weaver came up big in this divisional match-up, and bounced back nicely after three straight less-than-great starts that boosted his ERA from 2.09 to 3.10. It's at 3.15 after this start, but Weaver's confidence is clearly rising as well -- he looked sharp here, and continues to look better than he has at any time since putting up an 11-2 record and a 2.56 during his stunning 2006 rookie campaign. Weaver may not be quite the ace he has appeared to be in the first half, but the Angels score plenty of runs and it's hard to argue with that .225 BAA, 1.13 WHIP or 95 strikeouts in 114 1/3 innings. He faces the Yankees in Anaheim on July 11 in his next turn.

Analysis: Another rough night for Weaver, who has lost his mojo recently, going 1-2 with an 8.64 ERA and 12/8 K/BB ratio over his last three starts.
