News: Jay Bruce homered twice leading the Cincinnati Reds to a 6-1 victory and a three-game sweep of the Houston Astros. Bruce was in a 1-for-18 slump when he hit a solo shot off Felipe Paulino in the fourth. His two-run homer off the right-hander made it 5-1 in the sixth and put the Reds in position for their first sweep of the Astros in Cincinnati since May 2004. Bruce completed his breakout game with a run-scoring triple in the eighth off Chris Sampson. Bruce is batting .241 on the season. [...]

Jay Bruce crushed two home runs in his 3-for-4, four-RBI effort against the Astros on Wednesday. He now has 14 on the season.
Our View: Bruce's average and plate discipline still need work, but his power has officially arrive. His 14 homers and 29 RBI will attest to that, but he needs to work on the .241 average. Still, he's a nice outfield option in fantasy leagues.
