The Cubs will net a payroll savings of about $5 million in the exchange, according to the Post, assuming only about $1 million of Marquis' contract, while inheriting the $4 million still owed Vizcaino.

The Cubs would send at least $875,000 in cash to the Rockies. Vizcaino makes $4 million, and the Cubs would be shedding $5 million in the deal. The deal isn't expected to be announced until next week.

The Cubs will get right-handed reliever Luis Vizcaino in exchange.The Cubs will pay $1 million of Marquis' salary to help facilitate a deal as Colorado would have to add just less than $5 million to its 2009 payroll to acquire Marquis.
