Jason Bergmann allowed two runs and six hits over six innings, struck out five and walked three on Sunday against the Dodgers. The right-hander is 0-7 with a 3.24 ERA in 12 starts since beating the New York Mets 7-0 on May 15 at Shea Stadium with.Like many National pitchers, Bergman just cannot get any run support. His stuff is not bad and he could be relevant with a different team. He has lost his last six starts on the road, but refuses to get getting discouraged about his record. "There's no other way to go about it," Bergmann said. "You can't get down on yourself, your teammates or anybody else, for that matter. ... I'm not going to be a selfish guy and say I wish I could be winning more. My mindset is just to try to do my best to keep the team in the game and try to get wins."

Another effort worthy of a victory yet another loss for Bergmann, who hasn't registered a win since May 15. His ERA (4.13 ERA), WHIP (1.29) and K/BB ratio (69/22) are all solid. The problem is the Nationals simply don't score runs for him; they've averaged just about two runs in his starts this season, leaving the righty with little margin for error. He'll hope for some run support when he throws next week vs. the Reds.
