Tigers | Washburn holding off on surgery
John Lowe, of the Detroit Free Press, reports Detroit Tigers SP Jarrod Washburn (knee) said he will eventually have surgery on his injured left knee. He and the team have decided against having surgery immediately in hopes that his knee might be able to heal enough for him to pitch in the playoffs.

The Detroit Free Press is reporting that Tigers' starter Jarrod Washburn will eventually have surgery on his ailing left knee. Washburn will hold off on surgery for now in hopes of pitching at some point in the postseason.
Our View: Washburn looks like a long-shot to make any kind of contribution in the postseason, but he will wait on the surgery and try to come back. He won't be getting a start in the first round, so best-case scenario would be coming out of the bullpen.

According to FOXSports.com, Jarrod Washburn senses "mutual interest" in a possible return to the Mariners. "Not saying it will happen, but I know I enjoyed my time there, my wife and kids loved it there, and I think they have some interest," said Washburn. "So, I see that as a possibility." The 35-year-old southpaw was 31-49 with a 4.17 ERA in parts of four seasons in Seattle, but was 8-6 with a 2.64 ERA in 2009 before getting dealt to the Tigers at the trade deadline. Washburn could also see the Twins and Brewers as a potential fit since they are close to his offseason home in Wisconsin.
