Washburn would return to Seattle

Source (fanball.com) (SP - sea) | 0 comments.

Jarrod Washburn noted that he would be open to returning to Seattle next season after being dealt to Detroit Friday, according to Bob Nightengale's (USA Today) twitter page.

Our View: The Mariners are not a solid team, but Washburn held a 2.64 ERA over 20 starts, with the help of playing his home games at pitcher-friendly Safeco Field. He is slated to become a free agent in the offseason.

Source (kffl.com) (SP - sea) | 0 comments.

Washburn is in the midst of an outstanding season with eight

Source (mlb.com) (P - sea) | 0 comments.

Washburn is in the midst of an outstanding season with eight wins, a 2.64 ERA and a 1.07 WHIP. Given his track record, it's unlikely he'll be able to sustain such strong rate stats, and the move to Detroit's Comerica Park, where he sports a 5.33 career ERA, won't help. On the other hand, he will have the benefit of a Miguel Cabrera-led offense behind him for the final two months. Expect a few more wins but a slightly worse ERA and WHIP than he would have generated in Seattle. French had a 3.76 ERA in five starts for Detroit this season and could take over Washburn's slot in the Mariners rotation. He's an interesting prospect, but hasn't shown enough command to be a factor in mixed leagues just yet. Robles has a 3.60 ERA and 40 strikeouts over 35 innings at Class A Advanced Lakeland, but he's a few years away from the bigs.

Tigers acquired LHP Jarrod Washburn from the Mariners for LHP Luke French and LHP Mauricio Robles. Some in the baseball industry believe Washburn's stellar 2009 season is the result of Seattle's stellar outfield defense and the spacious confines of Safeco Field. [...]

Washburn is in the middle of an outstanding year with eight

Washburn is in the middle of an outstanding year with eight wins, a 2.64 ERA and a 1.07 WHIP. While his rate stats were already due for some regression and heÂ’s trading spacious SAFECO Field for a home stadium where heÂ’s never had much success (5.33 ERA in 49 career innings at Comerica Park), he will have the benefit of a better offense behind him for the final two months. Expect a few more wins but a slightly worse ERA and WHIP than he would have generated in Seattle. French had a 3.76 ERA in five starts for Detroit this season and could slot into WashburnÂ’s slot in the Mariners rotation. HeÂ’s an interesting prospect, but hasnÂ’t shown enough command to be a factor in mixed leagues just yet. Mariners deal Washburn to Detroit for 2 pitchers

Source (yahoo.com) (SP - sea) | 0 comments.

After days of debate, the Seattle Mariners have traded left-handed pitcher Jarrod Washburn to the Detroit Tigers in exchange for left-hander Luke French and minor-league prospect Mauricio Robles.

French swapped for Washburn

Source (fanball.com) (SP - sea) | 0 comments.

According to Ed Price at AOL Fanhouse, the Tigers have traded Luke French and Single-A lefty Mauricio Robles to the Mariners for Jarrod Washburn.

Our View: French is having a solid (albeit brief) season, but is a number five starter and Robles is not an elite prospect, so it appears the Tigers got the better of the deal here. French will have a chance to make an impact in Seattle and has some upside, but is not a fantasy worthy player outside of deep AL-only leagues at this point in his career.

Washburn deal to Detroit

Source (fanball.com) (SP - sea) | 0 comments.

According to MYNorthwest.com, The Tigers have acquired starter Jarrod Washburn from the Seattle Mariners.

Our View: No word yet on who the Tigers had to give up. It was thought that Detroit didn't have enough available talent to get this deal done, but that theory is out the window. Stay tuned for details.

Tigers eying Washburn

Source (fanball.com) (SP - sea) | 0 comments.

According to FOXSports.com, the Tigers have contacted the Mariners about coveted starter Jarrod Washburn.

Our View: The Tigers likely don't have enough bait to pull in someone on the level of Washburn's talent. They have some decent pitching prospects, but their lack of talented future position players will probably keep them from adding an impact player. The Yankees are also interested in Washburn, but the M's are looking for Jesus Montero (the Yanks' top prospect) in return.

Jarrod Washburn Injury News

Source rotoworld.com. November 22, 2009, 12:59 pm ( S - sea)

Status: Out. Out for regular season
According to FOXSports.com, Jarrod Washburn senses "mutual interest" in a possible return to the Mariners. "Not saying it will happen, but I know I enjoyed my time there, my wife and kids loved it there, and I think they have some interest," said Washburn. "So, I see that as a possibility." The 35-year-old southpaw was 31-49 with a 4.17 ERA in parts of four seasons in Seattle, but was 8-6 with a 2.64 ERA in 2009 before getting dealt to the Tigers at the trade deadline. Washburn could also see the Twins and Brewers as a potential fit since they are close to his offseason home in Wisconsin.
