Jake Peavy's scheduled start on Wednesday has been pushed to Friday, according to Joe Christensen's (Star Tribune) twitter page.

The Minneapolis Star Tribune's Joe Christensen reports Chicago White Sox SP Jake Peavy's next start has been moved from Wednesday, Sept. 30, to Friday, Oct. 2, against the Detroit Tigers.
Peavy to get just one more start
News: From The Sports Xchange notes: RHP Jake Peavy experienced no soreness after his Friday start -- his second start since coming off the DL after recovering from a right ankle injury and then an elbow bruise suffered when he was struck by a comebacker during his final rehab start. The schedule with Peavy is to get him one more start, possibly in Detroit if they want to give him a few extra days of rest, or in Cleveland. The White Sox will then give Peavy an offseason workout program with the hope of making sure the ankle and arm are fully recovered going into spring training. [...]

Peavy hurls seven scoreless
Jake Peavy only issued six hits over seven scoreless innings in Friday's 2-0 win over the rival Tigers at U.S. Cellular Field. He had two walks and racked up eight strikeouts.

Peavy pitching on Friday
Jake Peavy will start for the White Sox against the Tigers on Friday, according to Scott Merkin of MLB.com.
Our View: It will be only his second start for the White Sox. In his American League debut against the Royals last Saturday, he allowed three runs in five innings while striking out five.
Peavy will start Saturday now
News: From The Sports Xchange notes: RHP Jake Peavy has been pushed back a day and will start Saturday rather than Friday, but it's for a reason. RHP Freddy Garcia likes to work on schedule, so Garcia will start Friday against Detroit. That will also allow Peavy to pitch in the first game of the series in Detroit in case the Sox have a miracle up their sleeve. [...]

Peavy admitted the soreness had a slightly different feel than the usual regular-season start. "I think it's more like Spring Training soreness, no doubt," said Peavy. "I'm more sore than I think I will be April or May of next year. I have an extra day in between starts with Thursday's off-day, so that will help." Peavy threw 73 pitches in Saturday night's return to a Major League mound, following a three-month absence due to a partially-torn tendon in his right ankle and the after-effects of taking a line drive off of his pitching elbow during a Minor League rehab start. The right-hander will take the mound next on Sept. 25 against the Tigers, to begin a weekend home series that the White Sox hope will have some sort of playoff ramifications.
White Sox | Peavy experiencing general soreness
MLB.com's Scott Merkin reports on his Twitter page that Chicago White Sox SP Jake Peavy is experiencing general soreness the day after his victory against the Kansas City Royals Saturday, Sept. 19. However, it is not abnormal. "I think it's spring training soreness," Peavy said. "No doubt. I'm more sore than I think I will be April or May next year."

Chicago White Sox SP Jake Peavy allowed three runs on three hits over five innings Saturday, Sept. 19, against the Kansas City Royals, according to The Associated Press. He walked two and struck out five, improving to 7-6 overall this year. Peavy impressed in his much-awaited White Sox debut. The six groundouts and fantastic strikeout rate display the kind of ace-like effort Peavy can bring to the Southsiders. Even though he threw 73 pitches over just five innings, he showed an efficient mindset by introducing 13 of the 19 batters he faced with a first-pitch strike. Owners should absolutely start him on Sept. 25 when he takes on the Tigers at U.S. Cellular Field.
Peavy wins in first game back
News: White Sox SP Jake Peavy (7-6) allowed three runs and three hits over five innings in his first start in over three months Saturday night as Chicago got a grand slam from Carlos Quentin, scored six times in the eighth and beat the Kansas City Royals 13-3. Peavy (1-0) hadn't pitched in a major league game since June 8 when he beat the Diamondbacks while with the Padres. Peavy won't be at his best Saturday
News: SP Jake Peavy is set to make his first start for the White Sox on Saturday against the Royals. Peavy, the 2007 NL Cy Young winner, was acquired from San Diego at the July 31 trade deadline. The right-hander has been on the disabled list since June 13 with a strained tendon in his right ankle and was struck on his pitching elbow during a rehab game on Aug. 24. Peavy said he's healthy and has worked long hours to rehab his ankle. He added that his elbow is fine and he has no idea how long he'll be able to pitch or how many he can throw against he Royals. "I had a pretty significant injury that at times surgery was talked about," he said. [...]
White Sox | Peavy to be on pitch count
Updating previous reports, the Chicago Sun-Times' Joe Cowley reports Chicago White Sox SP Jake Peavy (ankle) will be on a pitch count in his start Saturday, Sept. 19, likely around 70-75 pitches.

Peavy and the White Sox brass thought he would be taking the mound two or three weeks prior to Sept. 19 against the Royals. He came to the White Sox with a partially torn tendon in his right ankle, suffered while running the bases in a game against the Cubs, and had been inactive since a June 8 start against the D-backs. But the right-hander worked his way back into pitching shape through two Minor League starts and a strong start to a third one with Triple-A Charlotte, before getting hit on the pitching elbow during that Aug. 24 trip to the mound. That line drive basically set back Peavy between two and three weeks.
Peavy to debut for Sox on Saturday
News: Jake Peavy is set to make his first start for the White Sox. The team announced Tuesday that the former Cy Young winner will start Saturday against the Royals. Peavy has not pitched since injuring his right ankle in June. Peavy was hurt during a minor-league rehab assignment when he was hit on the elbow with a batted ball, delaying his White Sox debut. Given the long layoff, Peavy warned reporters at Safeco Field not to expect him at his usual best. "I don't expect to be 100 percent," said Peavy, who was 6-6 with a 3.97 ERA in San Diego. "I'm not. I'm excited about getting out there and competing." [...]

Peavy optimistic he can make start
News: The Chicago Tribune reports that Jake Peavy is optimistic he can make a start over the weekend against Kansas City. Peavy threw about the equivalent of four innings in a simulated game situation Sunday, which makes his White Sox's debut lined up for this weekend against Kansas City at U.S. Cellular Field. "I think today was the best we've been since I've been on the mound," Peavy said. "I'm starting to get there. I'm excited about it. I know who I can be, and its been frustrating to get there and jump right in and not ease into things. Its' been different than what I've done in years past. Today was certainly the best I've been and felt and hopefully that progresses." [...]
Peavy targets return next weekend
News: From The Sports Xchange: The White Sox now have a better timetable of when they will have their ace in waiting make his highly anticipated debut. Now the hope is by the time Jake Peavy takes the mound this weekend against Kansas City, the Sox are still in the pennant chase and it matters. Peavy threw another simulated game/bullpen session before Sunday's finale in Anaheim, and he was sounding like a pitcher that will be ready to be a factor. At least that's his hope. "That's the best one so far," pitching coach Don Cooper said. "An extended workout. Basically, the equivalent of four innings. Movement was outstanding. He has outstanding movement. I haven't seen the guy pitch first-hand in a game, but if that's not the biggest asset, it's certainly one of them. His curveball was good, his cutter, he threw some of them, was good. His fastball, change-up, went to a full windup, stretch, went over hitters. We really isolated the fastball more than anything. You can speculate there's going to be a bullpen Tuesday or Wednesday (in Seattle). You can speculate that he will be pitching two or three days after that bullpen." [...]
Peavy could start this weekend
According to the Chicago Tribune, White Sox's starter Jake Peavy is looking to make his debut with the team this weekend against the Royals. Peavy is scheduled to throw another bullpen session either Tuesday or Wednesday, and if all goes well he could start two or three days after.
Our View: Peavy seems confident that he is healthy enough to pitch, and barring another setback he should be able to go this week. Don't expect him to get deep into games right away, but his stuff is good enough to help out a fantasy squad for the few starts he will be making.
White Sox | Peavy could start this weekend
The Chicago Tribune's Mark Gonzales reports Chicago White Sox SP Jake Peavy (ankle, elbow) threw his best bullpen session Sunday, Sept. 13, when he threw about four innings in a simulated game. He'll throw another bullpen session early this week and could make a start this weekend. "His movement was outstanding," pitching coach Don Cooper said. "He has outstanding movement. Peavy feels good; status still TBD
News: Jake Peavy threw a bullpen session Wednesday but is still unsure if he will make start for the White Sox this season. "I have no idea what the plans are," he said. "I did what I was asked to do today and I was excited to do that. Who knows what the future holds, I wish I can tell you." He threw between 50 and 60 pitches during his intense bullpen session. White Sox pitching coach Don Cooper was pleased but didn't go as far as setting a date when Peavy will throw in a game. A big indication of Peavy's next step will be based on how he feels Thursday. "I think so. From what I'm gathering," Peavy said. "I'm on a daily basis with Cooper. I was told a few a days I was going to do this and I'm excited to do this. I told Coop, I feel like I'm ready to go. When these guys think I'm ready to go, obviously they are the ones watching me and making the decisions. I think tomorrow coming in, get some treatment see how I feel and I hope we make a decision one way or the other." [...]
White Sox | Peavy throws bullpen Wednesday

"I have no idea what the plans are," Peavy said. "I did what I was asked to do today and I was excited to do that. Who knows what the future holds, I wish I can tell you."
Much of the decision on the next step for Peavy will come from
Much of the decision on the next step for Peavy will come from how he feels on Thursday, when he comes in during the team's off-day to get treatment before making the trip with the White Sox to Anaheim. The options would be to have Peavy throw another side session, probably Saturday or Sunday at Angel Stadium, or give him a start, most likely Tuesday night at Safeco Field in Carlos Torres' rotation spot. "[Hopefully] we will make the decision one way or another," Peavy said. "It's whether I'll have another sideline or throw me into the fire."

Jake Peavy wouldn't guarantee that he will start again this season. "I can promise you this," Peavy said. "On Feb 15 or whatever day it is I report [for spring training], I'll be in as good of shape as anybody and be ready to pitch and expect nothing less than what I've done in years, which is giving my team a chance to win and work 200 plus innings. Jake Peavy threw his scheduled pen session Wednesday, according to the Chicago Tribune. He worked out of the windup and stretch position, and also took breaks to simulate a game situation.
Our View: Peavy's status will be decided later in the week, and there is a very good chance he could make his first start for Chicago next week against Seattle at Safeco Field, if not earlier. Pitching coach Don Cooper noted that Peavy fared very well in today's session.

White Sox | Peavy may start as soon as the weekend
The Associated Press reports if Chicago White Sox SP Jake Peavy (ankle/elbow) has an effective, pain-free throwing session Wednesday, Sept. 9, he could start as soon as this weekend, pitching coach Don Cooper said. Peavy has been on the DL since June 13 with an ankle injury. He was just rounding into shape when he was struck on the right elbow by a line drive Aug. 29 in his fourth rehab start.
Peavy isn't expected to throw more than the 60 pitches he tossed
Peavy isn't expected to throw more than the 60 pitches he tossed on Sept. 6, but a successful session Wednesday could be a step towards taking the hill for the White Sox on Sept. 15 in Seattle. Peavy's rehab work has been well documented since his August arrival in Chicago. Peavy made four Minor League starts for Triple-A Charlotte in working his way into form from a partially torn tendon in his right ankle, which was suffered while pitching for the Padres, and he looked ready to return to the Majors during the third start. That third start also was when Peavy took Wes Timmons' line drive off his elbow, setting him back another few weeks. White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen and pitching coach Don Cooper have said on multiple occasions that Peavy will not return until he feels he's 100 percent. When that is still remains to be seen, but more will be known after he throws Wednesday.
Peavy slated for pen session
Jake Peavy is slated to throw his second bullpen session Wednesday, according to MLB.com.
Our View: Peavy could make his first first with Chicago next week if his session goes fine. He will talk to pitching coach Don Cooper through the week, to track how his ailing elbow is responding.

Poreda called up
Aaron Poreda has been recalled from Triple-A Portland.
Our View: Part of the Jake Peavy deal, Poreda posted a 2.45 ERA in 11 innings for the White Sox before the trade this season. He was struggling with a 7.16 ERA at Portland, however, and isn't an option in any format down the stretch.
White Sox | Peavy throws pen session
The Associated Press reports Chicago White Sox SP Jake Peavy (ankle, elbow) threw all his pitches in a bullpen session Sunday, Sept. 6, but didn't throw the 50 to 60 pitches at maximum effort. He said he'll probably throw another session in a few days. "Getting better," Peavy said. "I'd be lying if I told you I was out there completely normal, but nothing crazy. I'm able to get some extension."

Peavy hoping to return in 10-12 days
Jake Peavy threw a 60-pitch bullpen session on Saturday, according to the Chicago Tribune. Peavy is hoping to make his first start as a member of the Sox in 10-12 days.
Our View: Peavy said he felt fine after the session, and barring any more setbacks he should pitch this season. The Sox are nearly out of the playoff hunt, altough they have been hot of late and could look to make a last second push in the Central.
Peavy improved during bullpen
News: Jake Peavy has tossed about 50 pitches in a bullpen session and says he still hopes to play for the Chicago White Sox this season. Peavy was acquired from San Diego at the July 31 trade deadline. Poreda walks eight in Triple-A appearance
Aaron Poreda allowed three runs on one hit while walking eight and striking out eight in 5.1 innings for Triple-A Portland on Friday, according to MLB.com. Poreda came to San Diego as part of the Jake Peavy deal.
Our View: Poreda has walked 37 in in 32.2 innings with Portland since the trade, and he won't be able to pitch effectively at the major league level until he gets some control over his stuff. He has the stuff to be effective, as evidenced by the eight strikeouts, but he needs to get some control.
Jake Peavy will throw a side session Sunday, said White Sox

The good news is he came out of the long-toss session feeling good. The bad news is that he's still not on a throwing program. However, general manager Kenny Williams claims the ace will possibly return to the mound before the season's end. "We just met with the doctors, and there's a little bit of inflammation still that is contributing to the problem," Williams said. There seems to be a lot of back-and-forth on whether Peavy will return, so it's best to keep expectations low.

White Sox | Peavy plays catch Friday
Scott Merkin, of MLB.com, reports Chicago White Sox SP Jake Peavy (elbow, ankle) extended his throwing session to as far as 90 feet Friday, Sept. 4, but said there is still no throwing program in place. "After he throws, we have to have a plan for him to throw on the side, simulated game, wait for a few days to recover, and throw another day and maybe pitch in a game," manager Ozzie Guillen said. "I said last week, I don't have him in the [rotation] this year because I have to go with the realistic plan."

How about them White Sox?! Yeah, they chucked in the pale towel sometime between Ozzie Guillen’s Monday outburst and Ozzie Guillen’s Tuesday outburst of this week. One of the pieces them grabbed that was hailed by many as being a stroke of genius was Jake Peavy. Yeah, the Padres actually made a good trade there [...]
Peavy to throw on Friday
Jake Peavy plans to have an intense bullpen session at U.S. Cellular Field on Friday, according to the Chicago Sun-Times.
Our View: The team just won't let Peavy's 2009 die, apparently. They are spinning this by saying it will give everyone "piece of mind" by finding out if he is finally healthy or not, but it still seems as if all involved parties would be best served by just shutting him down to ensure he's 100 percent for 2010.
Jake Peavy is scheduled to throw a "rigorous" bullpen

Peavy likely to be shutdown
The Chicago Tribune is reporting that there is a good chance the White Sox will decide to shut ailing pitcher Jake Peavy down for the rest of the season.
Our View: With the White Sox five games under .500 and seven games out of first place, coupled with the fact that the minor league season ends next Monday, it probably makes the most sense for the Sox to just shut their new ace down and make sure he is 100 percent for 2010. The team's Double-A affiliate Birmingham is expected to make the playoffs, meaning they will be playing beyond the minors' September 7th end date, but unless something changes drastically for the big club within the next week, don't expect them to trot Peavy out again.

Updating a previous report, Bruce Levine, of ESPNChicago.com, reports an MRI on Chicago White Sox SP Jake Peavy's (elbow, ankle) elbow revealed a bruise and some fluid retention. He will likely be shut down until the swelling in his elbow subsides.

That's the good news. The bad news is that the line drive resulted in a bone and muscle bruise that left him unable to throw without pain. Peavy has recovered from the partially torn tendon in his left ankle that put him on the DL in the first place, so the right elbow is what's keeping him from making his debut with the White Sox. There's no timetable for when the righty is expected to return, as he needs to ensure he can throw from flat ground pain-free before participating in any kind of mound work, though the Sox would like to have him contribute before the season ends.
White Sox | Peavy's MRI clean
WhiteSox.MLB.com's Scott Merkin reports on his Twitter page Chicago White Sox SP Jake Peavy (elbow) had an MRI reveal no structural damage to his right elbow.

That's the good news. The concerning news about the line drive he took off his elbow in a Triple-A Charlotte start on Aug. 24 is that he has a bone and muscle bruise. It's left him without the ability to even play catch pain-free. Ironically, Peavy is all but recovered from a partially torn tendon in his left ankle that put him on the DL in the first place, so the right elbow is what's keeping him from making his debut with the White Sox. There's no timetable for when the righty can return, as he needs to ensure he can throw from flat ground pain-free before participating in any kind of mound work. Stay apprised of the situation, as it looks like the White Sox are still interested in bringing him up to the big club before the season ends.

I was hoping for help in thre playoffs but now I'm not sure. Should I drop him for Jonathan Sanchez or Clay Buchholz?
