Jake Peavy's status a question mark now and in future
Peavy Who knows what the White Sox are actually getting in Jake Peavy? It's not clear when he'll be able to pitch or how long it will take for him to be ready to pitch in the majors, and it's possible or even likely this was more about 2010 and beyond than it was about 2009, even with the minor hole created in their rotation by the deal. Peavy was a top-tier pitcher in the National League but probably will see his stats take a hit when he takes the mound in the tougher league and in a good...

It's a strikingly similar deal to the one proposed several weeks
It's a strikingly similar deal to the one proposed several weeks ago, which Peavy nixed via his no-trade clause. What changed? Peavy suffered a partially torn ankle and the Padres fell further out of contention. He's targeting late August/early September as a return date. The big winners here are Poreda and Richard, both of whom figure to take every advantage of the cavernous pitching confines of PETCO Park, likely cracking the rotation down the stretch. Peavy, on the other hand, faces the daunting task of pitching in the offensively superior American League and toeing the rubber in cozy U.S. Coliseum.

Peavy dealt to White Sox, again
Jon Heyman of SI.com Tweets that Jake Peavy has been (once again) dealt to the White Sox for a package of minor leaguers.
Our View: Here we go again. Why the White Sox would trade for Peavy again after he already vetoed a trade there is a mystery. There is also the fact that Peavy is currently on the DL with a torn tendon in his ankle. The deal is apparently official, but Peavy would once again have to waive his no trade clause. We can't see him changing his tune when his reasons for blocking the trade the first time haven't changed. This looks like wishful thinking by the White Sox.
