Our View: Bastardo has been pitching very well in the minors, going a combined 3-2 with a 1.89 ERA between Double-A Reading and Triple-A Lehigh Valley, and could really give the Phillies depleted rotation a lift if he performs well tonight. If he does, he could be worth a spot start his next time out, or perhaps even a roster spot in deeper leagues.

Padres ace Jake Peavy will not discuss with Philadelphia reporters whether he would approve a trade to the Phillies or not until after his Tuesday night start at Petco Park, according to the Philadelphia Daily News.

Our View: While there is a better chance Peavy would approve a trade to Philadelphia than the White Sox, it is still unlikely. It is no secret that he prefers a trade to a team in "middle America," and along with Citizens Bank Park being very hitter friendly, Philadelphia is certainly not middle America. For now, just keep assuming Peavy is a Padre for the foreseeable future.
