Reds.MLB.com's Mark Sheldon reports Cincinnati Reds SP Homer Bailey admitted that he didn't put in the work like he should have in the past and appeared more comfortable with himself last year. Bailey was 6-1 with a 1.70 ERA over his last nine starts, and the bullpen blew two other potential wins. He wasn't afraid to mix in offspeed pitches and developed a split-fingered pitch. Last winter he amped up his offseason workouts and seemed committed to doing so again this offseason.

The Associated Press reports Cincinnati Reds SP Homer Bailey beat the Pittsburgh Pirates in the season finale Sunday, Oct. 4. He allowed seven hits and three walks while fanning seven in six shutout innings to finish the season 8-5 with a 4.53 ERA. He went 6-1 with a 1.70 ERA down the stretch.
