Royals | Tejeda suffers loss Friday
Kansas City Royals SP Robinson Tejeda allowed six runs (five earned) on two hits over 4 1/3 innings Friday, Sept. 25, against the Minnesota Twins, according to The Associated Press. He walked seven and struck out three, falling to 4-3 on the season. Entering the game, Tejeda had been 3-0 with a 0.81 ERA in four starts since replacing SP Gil Meche (shoulder) in the rotation. 1B Michael Cuddyer's fourth-inning homer off Tejeda ended his streak of retiring 43 consecutive right-handed batters, the longest such streak in the majors this year.

Status: Out. Doubtful for season
Gil Meche (shoulder inflammation) is unlikely to pitch the remainder of the year. Meche has battled arm and back troubles all year, leaving him with a pedestrian 5.09 ERA on the year after sub-4 ERAs the past two years. The 30-year old will play catch shortly and the Royals will take things on a day-by-day basis for the rest of the season. Manager Trey Hillman calls the right-hander "doubtful" to return. Robinson Tejada will continue to start in his place.
