Francisco was 3-5 with a 3.13 ERA and five saves in 58 games for the Rangers in 2008. All five saves came in the final five weeks of the season and he goes into camp as the leading candidate to be the Rangers closer.

Francisco agreed to a $1.6 million, one-year contract Monday with the Texas Rangers, who gave the reliever a raise from his $775,000 salary last season and avoided arbitration with Francisco for the second straight year. Francisco went 3-5 with five saves and a 3.13 ERA in 58 appearances for the Rangers. He took over as the team's closer on Aug. 25 and didn't allow an earned run in his final 11 apperances, going 5-for-5 in save chances.
