Eric Chavez has started rehabbing from his most recent back surgery, according to the Associated Press.
Our View: His rehab is going well so far, and he is hopeful of returning to the A's next year in spring training. He will try to get into great physical shape, and see what happens from there. He added that he would try to serve as a DH if his back cannot handle working in the infield.

Status: D.L.. Out for the season
Eric Chavez will attempt to return to play third base for the A's next spring training. "I'll try to get in great shape, roll the dice and see what happens," Chavez said. He underwent a second microdiscectomy on his back in June. There's no guarantee that he'll ever be a major contributor again.
