His two seasons in the AL, 2005 and 2008, have been arguably the two worst seasons of his 13-year career. In 2007, he hit .332 with Atlanta.

Edgar Renteria underwent successful elbow surgery over the weekend. Surgeons removed two centimeter-long chunks of calcified matter from Renteria's right elbow. "You would be amazed," Bruce Bochy said of the bone fragments. Renteria is expected to make a full recovery by the start of spring training. He hit .250/.307/.328 in 124 games this season.
