Wright to get Tuesday off
The Newark Star-Ledger is reporting that Mets' manager Jerry Manuel plans to sit third baseman David Wright on Tuesday. Wright has played in 111 of the team's 112 games this season, so he is getting a night off tonight.
Our View: Not only has Wright played in every game but one this season, but he has shouldered all of the pressures of performing in New York alone while the rest of the team's starts have been on the DL. If anyone deserves a day off, it's Wright, but expect him to be right back in there tomorrow.

Wright will sit out Tuesday's game
News: Mets manager Jerry Manuel indicated Monday night that third baseman David Wright likely will not start Tuesday at Arizona. He has played 111 of the Mets' 112 games this season. "I think it will help me," said Wright, who went 1 for 3 Monday. "This had been quite a grind, mentally and physically. You want to play every game, but sometimes it is in your best interest and the team's best interest to get a fresh set of legs out there." [...]

Wright has been locked in lately, hitting safely in 15 of the last 17 games and batting .400 with five doubles, three dingers and 13 runs. Owners can count on a prolific stretch run from the hammering hot cornerman, whose .330 average ranks third in the NL.
Wright's three hits go for naught as K-Rod bungles away game
David Wright went 3-for-4 and collected his 55th RBI on Friday night, but watched helplessly in the ninth inning as Francisco Rodriguez systematically gave away the Mets' 2-1 lead. The Amazins would end up losing 6-2 to the Padres.
Our View: Wright's 55 RBI have him on pace to collect well fewer than 100, which would make this the first season since 2004 he did not reach that number.

Question: To Charge or Not to Charge
I have been listening to 1050 ESPN Radio, and they make an interesting point regarding today’s game and David Wright. The hosts believe Wright should have charged the mound, when the pitcher from the Cardinals nearly hit his helmet with a fastball up and inside.Instead, Wright did nothing.I’d like to think I would charged the mound, [...]
Wright goes 3-for-4, homers
David Wright went 3-for-4 and blasted his eighth home run of the season in the Mets' 9-0 rout of the Cardinals on Wednesday.
Our View: Wright's two-run shot in the first inning proved to be the game winner as the Cardinals were held in check by a patchwork quilt of Mets' starters. Wright was 5-for-7 in the two-game series with three walks and a pair of runs scored.
WrightÂ’s average has dropped nearly 20 points over the last
WrightÂ’s average has dropped nearly 20 points over the last five weeks, but heÂ’s shown a little bit more power of late with three jacks and nine RBIs in his last 12 games. Though he hasnÂ’t contributed in the categories most owners expected this season, Wright is still one of the top third basemen in the NL and should be started in all formats.

David Wright went 3-for-4 with a two-run homer and a walk against the Cardinals on Wednesday. While the homer off Kyle Lohse was just his fourth in 314 at-bats against a right-handers, he has now gone deep three times in his last 12 games. [...]

3 UP: REYES/WRIGHT, HAIRSTON, MELANCON
Yes, I am on Twitter.1.As badly as things ended in 2007 and 2008, the Mets could imagine a bright future still ahead, and the strongest reason for that was a left side of the infield that was not just excellent, but young. When last season finished, both Jose Reyes and David Wright were still just 25. They were All-Star quality players. You could argue - rather easily - that both were among the 15 or 20 most desirable players in all of baseball. It was also rather easy to believe that their best years were still in front of them; that the Mets had a cornerstone from which to construct future elite teams.
Just another night on the job for Wright, whoÂ’s hit safely
Just another night on the job for Wright, whoÂ’s hit safely in 13 of the last 14 games, racking up four doubles and two dingers in that span. While heÂ’s only clubbed seven homers and knocked in 52 runs this year, his .324 average, 23 steals and 68 runs all rank among the league leaders.
3 UP: WRIGHT, FIGUEROA, PEDS AND THE NFL
Yes, I am on Twitter:1. Much is being made about how Mark Reynolds has as many homers (4) at Citi Field after starting three times in a four-game series as David Wright has all year. I get the comparison. The two grew up near each other and played on traveling teams. They both are third basemen.
