Well, this is quite an improvement on his last performance, when he walked five in 3 1/3 innings. After two starts in '09, it's clear that Price could become one of baseball's best strikeout pitchers. He's mowed down 17 hitters in nine innings, a prodigious pace which is probably impossible to maintain. Nevertheless, he's instantly a great option in all formats. Run him in your lineup on June 5 when he takes on the Yankees at Yankee Stadium.

Our View: That's a good place to start. He needed 100 pitches to get just 10 outs in his first major league start this season. He should be a strong option moving forward, but it will help if he can at least get to the sixth.

Our View: This certainly was not the 2009 debut the youngster was hoping for. Walks were the source of his troubles in today's game. Several young pitchers experience the same problems early in their careers as they try to strike out everyone rather than rely on their defense. We expect significant improvement in short order.

While Price's dazzling stuff is no secret to anyone who remembers his brilliance during the Rays run to the World Series in '08, he hasn't been nearly as sharp thus far in '09 and struggled with his control (4.8 BB/9) at Triple-A Durham. In the long run, Price is much more likely to resemble last year's lights-out model -- he of the 1.93 ERA and 0.93 WHIP in his first 14 MLB innings and dominant postseason showing -- than today's shaky starter, but fantasy owners might want to keep him stashed on the bench until he finds his legs at the Big League level. Price's next turn comes at home against the Twins, on May 30.
