The D-backs offense finally gave Haren plenty of support, rapping out 11 hits, and the ace right-hander seized the moment by cutting his ERA and WHIP to 2.54 and 0.90, respectively. All 10 of Haren's outings have been quality starts, and his 71/9 K/BB ratio offers further proof that he's one of the game's top starting pitchers, a must-start in all formats.

News: Diamondbacks SP Dan Haren allowed two runs on seven hits in eight innings Thursday against the Braves, striking out eight and walking none to record his fourth victory. He hadn't won a game since May 2 but has a 2.54 ERA. "He can control a game," Diamondbacks manager A.J. Hinch said of Haren. "It's a sight to see when he competes. He executes pitches. He's got a game plan. He doesn't back down. He thinks along with the hitters." Haren fell on a 1-0 pitch to Jordan Schafer leading off the eighth inning. After talking to trainers, he got back on the mound and struck Schafer out. Haren said he rolled his foot in a hole that opposing SP Derek Lowe creates in his landing area. "It scared me for a second," he said. "Once I stood up I knew I was fine." [...]

Dan Haren was lights out on Thursday as the Diamondbacks defeated the Braves 5-2. Haren went eight innings and allowed two runs on seven hits. He did not walk a batter and he struck out eight.
Our View: Haren has been one of the only bright spots out in the desert this season, and he continued his solid season tonight. Haren's ERA is at 2.54 on the year, but his record is only at 4-4 due to his team's lack of offensive pop. He is still a very strong play going forward.
