He had given up eight hits per outing in his previous five appearances, so allowing just three hits to an power-packed Ranges lineup is a promising sign for his next start. News: A's starter Dallas Braden allowed two runs and five hits over six-plus innings before exiting with a cut on his left thumb on Sunday in a no decision against the Rangers. He struck out six and walked two, turning in a performance similar to his last start in Texas on April 30 when he pitched five shutout innings in a 4-2 victory. [...]

Dallas Braden was excellent against Texas on Sunday, pitching six scoreless innings, but gave up two baserunners in the seventh, both of which ending up scoring, before exiting the game with a cut on his left thumb, according to MLB.com. He ended up logging a no-decision.
Our View: No word yet on whether the cut will cause Braden to miss his next start. As it stands now, the injury does not appear to be serious and Braden looks like he'll be a fine innings-eater capable to spot starts all year long.

Status: D.L.. Done for season
Athletics transferred LHP Dallas Braden from the 15-day disabled list to the 60-day disabled list. Braden's left foot was "traumatized" by a rash in late August and he'll need the next few months for recovery. The 25-year-old southpaw finished the 2009 season with a 3.89 ERA and 1.36 WHIP in 22 starts.
