Colby Rasmus had a big night in the Cardinals 11-2 blowout of the Astros on Tuesday. The rookie center fielder went 3-for-4 with three runs scored and hit his 16th homer of the season.

Our View: Rasmus is having a solid rookie campaign and has done well adjusting to Tony LaRussa's sporadic outfield rotation. Tuesday's effort was his fifth multi-hit game this month.

Cardinals rookie outfielder Colby Rasmus is not in Tuesday's lineup against the Marlins.

Our View: Rasmus isn't injured and is coming off a big game last night, so the fact that he's sitting was just a judgment call by Manager Tony LaRussa. He seems to do this to Colby every time the rookie has a big game. There is a lefty on the mound for the Marlins, but Rasmus is being bumped in favor of another lefty (Rick Ankiel), which makes no sense. His fantasy value would greatly increase if the Cardinal manager would let him play consistently and get into a groove.

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch's Joe Strauss reports St. Louis Cardinals OF Ryan Ludwick hit sixth Monday, Sept. 14, with OF Colby Rasmus hitting fifth. Manager Tony La Russa said it was to split up the right-handed bats in the middle of the order and not because Ludwick has only three homers in his last 150 at-bats. Rasmus ended up hitting a three-run homer, and Ludwick had two RBIs in the game.

While his solid pop and regular playing time in the outfield have made the 23-year-old a solid play in NL-only leagues this year, Rasmus is only scratching the surface of his potential. He has the talent to make a Justin Upton-style fantasy breakthrough in 2010.

Colby Rasmus went 3-for-5 with three RBI and two runs scored in tonight's 11-6 win over Florida at Busch Stadium. He hit two singles and a three-run homer off Matt Lindstrom.

Our View: Rasmus is hitting well right now, as he notched multiple hits in three of his last five games, with five RBI over the span. The prized rookie outfielder also ended a 12-game skid without a homer, and has 15 for 2009.
