Clayton Richard was sent from the White Sox to the Padres in
Clayton Richard was sent from the White Sox to the Padres in a five-player deal. Richard had just turned in a pair of excellent outings against the Tigers and Rays and was poised to remain in the rotation with Bartolo Colon gone, but the White Sox opted to ship him off instead. [...]
Poreda shipped to San Diego
Aaron Poreda has been shipped from Chicago to San Diego as part of the trade involving former Cy Young winner Jake Peavy, according to Ed Price's twitter page. Clayton Richard, Adam Russell and Dexter Carter were dealt to the Padres as well.
Our View: Poreda was a top prospect for the Sox, and could find his way into the Padres' rotation before the end of the 2009 season. He will get to play his home games at pitcher-friendly Petco Park, and shall remain stashed in keeper leagues.
Russell dealt to San Diego
Adam Russell has been dealt from Chicago to San Diego in exchange for ace Jake Peavy, according to Ed Price's twitter page. Clayton Richard, Dexter Carter and Aaron Poreda were sent to the Padres as well.
Our View: Russell will be going to a weaker team in San Diego, but will get to play his home game at pitcher-friendly Petco Park. As a fantasy reliever, his value still looks to remain low however.
Richard and prospects to Padres for Peavy
According to USA Today's Bob Nightengale, the White Sox have sent starter Clayton Richard, prospect Aaron Poreda and righties Adam Russell and Dexter Carter for Jake Peavy.
Our View: This is a great deal for the Padres. They finally unload Peavy, who is currently injured and owed a boatload of money, for a nice haul of young arms. Richard will likely join the Padres rotation right away and the other three look to help down the road. Poreda was the Sox's number one pitching prospect in 2008.

Peavy waives no trade clause, now a White Sock
Updating a previous report, Jake Peavy has actually approved the trade to the White Sox the second time around, according to Bob Nightengale at USA Today. The Padres will receive Clayton Richard, Adam Russell, Dexter Carter and Aaron Poreda in return.
Our View: This seems strange considering that Peavy wanted to stay in the NL, remain on the West Coast, pitch for a contender and be in a pitcher friendly ballpark. Now he's headed to an AL club in the Midwest, that is 2.5 games out of first and he'll be starting in a park that surrenders home runs like it's going out of style. He must really be done with San Diego. On the money end of it, Peavy is owed $56MM through 2012, or $74MM through 2013 if the Sox exercise his option. Assuming he makes a full recovery and pitches again this season his fantasy value will take a slight hit, taking the mound at US Cellular.
Peavy Traded to the White Sox, Again
Jake Peavy was traded to the Chicago White Sox for the second time this season. This time, he accepted it. He’s currently on the DL. He may not pitch again this season.Padres get Aaron Poreda, Clayton Richard, Dexter Carter, and Adam Russell. Padres seemed desperate for the salary dump.
Padres | Trade Peavy away
The MLB Network reports the San Diego Padres acquired Ps Clayton Richard, Aaron Poreda, Adam Russell and Dexter Carter from the Chicago White Sox Friday, July 31, in exchange for SP Jake Peavy.
