Bob Dutton, of The Kansas City Star, reports the Kansas City Royals have not made a deal official that would send OF Mark Teahen to the Chicago White Sox in exchange for 2B Chris Getz and 3B Josh Fields, despite contrary reports by the New York Daily News and Chicago Sun-Times. "We're in discussions with a lot of clubs about a lot of things," Royals general manager Dayton Moore said. "There is nothing to announce yet, and we won't comment (about trade rumors) until there is something to announce."

Our View: Be careful what you wish for Josh. Field requested a trade from the team earlier this season after being sent to the minors, and now he finds himself heading to Kansas City. 2009 was a year to forget for Fields, but maybe a change of scenery will allow him to fulfill his potential.

Our View: Getz appeared in 107 games for the Sox last season, and he hit .261 with two homers and 31 RBI. He also stole 25 bases and got thrown out only twice, so his value obviously lies in his speed on the bases.

The New York Daily News is reporting that the Chicago White Sox have acquired Mark Teahen from the Kansas City Royals in exchange for Chris Getz and Josh Fields. Teahen hit .271 with 12 homers and 50 RBI last season.

Our View: Interesting move here for the Sox, as Teahen is coming off a sub-par year by his standards. He is a career .277 hitter with 12 homers and 41 RBI against the Sox in his career, so maybe they just got sick of facing him. He is expected to replace Jermaine Dye as the everyday right fielder for the Sox.

Royals acquired second baseman Chris Getz and third baseman Josh Fields from the White Sox for infielder-outfielder Mark Teahen and cash considerations. Another low-cost piece for the Royals, as Dayton Moore acquires him at the league minimum. Getz batted .261/.324/.347 with two homers, 31 RBI and 25 stolen bases during his first full major league season in 2009. It's not yet clear how the Royals intend to use the 26-year-old since he can't touch Alberto Callaspo with the bat, but at least manager Trey Hillman has a lot of moving pieces to work with.
