The season is finished for Getz, who appeared in 10 games for the White Sox, batting .286 with one RBI. Although Getz hasn't really discussed any winter ball options with the team as of yet, he believes this injury should be fully healed by October and he'll be ready to build on a strong 2008 showing that just might have put him in contention for a 2009 starting job at second base. For now, Getz will try to learn what he can while watching from the side.

Status: Out. Done for season
Royals acquired second baseman Chris Getz and third baseman Josh Fields from the White Sox for infielder-outfielder Mark Teahen and cash considerations. Another low-cost piece for the Royals, as Dayton Moore acquires him at the league minimum. Getz batted .261/.324/.347 with two homers, 31 RBI and 25 stolen bases during his first full major league season in 2009. It's not yet clear how the Royals intend to use the 26-year-old since he can't touch Alberto Callaspo with the bat, but at least manager Trey Hillman has a lot of moving pieces to work with.
