The Chicago Tribune's Mark Gonzales reports Chicago White Sox general manager Kenny Williams reiterated his faith in 2B Chris Getz. "At some point if you don't show confidence in your scouting system and player development and major league staff to develop major league players and always get the veteran for your answer, it's going to catch up to you," Williams said. "And when it catches up to you, you are hurt because the spiral down is quicker."

Royals acquired second baseman Chris Getz and third baseman Josh Fields from the White Sox for infielder-outfielder Mark Teahen and cash considerations. Another low-cost piece for the Royals, as Dayton Moore acquires him at the league minimum. Getz batted .261/.324/.347 with two homers, 31 RBI and 25 stolen bases during his first full major league season in 2009. It's not yet clear how the Royals intend to use the 26-year-old since he can't touch Alberto Callaspo with the bat, but at least manager Trey Hillman has a lot of moving pieces to work with.
