Brian Moehler was excellent on Friday as he went the distance and allowed just one run on seven hits and two walks. He moved up to 2-3 on the season and struck out four in Astros' 6-1 win over the Pirates.
Our View: Moehler has been brutal this season. This is just his second quality start and despite a brilliant effort on Friday he's not worth holding on to in fantasy leagues. His ERA dropped to 6.43.

Moehler has struggled against the Bucs throughout his career -- 5-6 with a 6.37 ERA in 15 appearances -- but that was certainly not the case Friday night, as he pounded the strikezone with efficiency and limited Pirates batters to just two extra-base hits. Before making a dash to the waiver wire to grab the right-hander, keep in mind that the right-handed veteran has been hit-or-miss this season and still sports an unsightly 6.43 ERA on the year. He'll take his next turn in the rotation at home against the Rockies on June 3.

Astros exercised RHP Brian Moehler's 2010 option worth $3 million. Moehler, a 37-year-old right-hander, went 8-12 with a 5.47 ERA and 1.54 WHIP in 29 starts this season with the Astros. He averaged only 5 1/3 innings per outing over the course of the season, and struggled mightily down the stretch. He should be avoided in nearly every fantasy draft next spring.
