According to the South Florid Sun-Sentinel, the Royals rejected overtures from the Marlins for Brian Bannister.
Our View: Interest around Bannister has swelled lately, but it appears the Royals are willing to just give him up. In addition to the Marlins, the Yankees were involved at one point as well, but the deal feel apart due to money issues. Bannister is only 28 and is signed through 2012. He'll earn just $1.7 million this season and you can best this isn't the last time his name will come up today.

Brian Bannister (shoulder) has been shut down for the rest of the season. Bannister headed to New York earlier this week for a second opinion on his fatigued right arm, and was told to take the rest of the season off. He should be fine by the start of spring training 2010. "No surgery is necessary," he said, "and I will begin a stretching and strengthening program (Sunday)."
