Brett Myers has declared for free agency, according to Todd Zolecki of MLB.com.
Our View: He isn't likely to be back in Philadelphia, as the Phillies are set in the rotation and wouldn't be willing to pay Myers the money he will likely seek just to be a reliever.

Jim Salisbury, of The Philadelphia Inquirer, reports Philadelphia Phillies RP Brett Myers said he will not be back with the team in 2010. Myers has been told that the team will not try to negotiate a new deal with him in the offseason. He said he will be filing for free agency Friday, Nov. 6. Myers is open to working as a starter or reliever with a new team.

After meeting Friday with general manager Ruben Amaro Jr., free agent Brett Myers was told that the Phillies will not attempt to re-sign him. Myers spent eight seasons in Philadelphia, going 73-63 with a 4.40 ERA in 1,183 2/3 innings split between the rotation and bullpen. When healthy he's a qualify third or fourth starter and potential late-inning reliever, but injuries and off-field issues no doubt convinced the Phillies to move on.
