According to The Providence Journal, Philadelphia Phillies SP Brett Myers would not have pitched in Boston had the Phillies faced the Boston Red Sox in the World Series. Myers was arrested outside a bar and charged with assault and battery on his wife during a trip to Boston with the Phillies in 2006. He told USA TODAY's Bob Nightengale that "I don't ever want to pitch in Boston again."

After meeting Friday with general manager Ruben Amaro Jr., free agent Brett Myers was told that the Phillies will not attempt to re-sign him. Myers spent eight seasons in Philadelphia, going 73-63 with a 4.40 ERA in 1,183 2/3 innings split between the rotation and bullpen. When healthy he's a qualify third or fourth starter and potential late-inning reliever, but injuries and off-field issues no doubt convinced the Phillies to move on.
