Todd Zolecki, of MLB.com, reports Philadelphia Phillies SP Brett Myers (hip) will throw in the bullpen Thursday, July 30. He is hoping to be back with the team by mid August.

The Philadelphia Daily News' Paul Hagen reports Philadelphia Phillies SP Brett Myers (hip) is aiming to return this season as a reliever. "I just felt like for me to get back quicker, it would have to be out of the bullpen," Myers said. "Who knows? Maybe at some point after throwing a few games out of the bullpen, if I'm stretched out to 75 pitches, we'll see what happens. You never know."

After meeting Friday with general manager Ruben Amaro Jr., free agent Brett Myers was told that the Phillies will not attempt to re-sign him. Myers spent eight seasons in Philadelphia, going 73-63 with a 4.40 ERA in 1,183 2/3 innings split between the rotation and bullpen. When healthy he's a qualify third or fourth starter and potential late-inning reliever, but injuries and off-field issues no doubt convinced the Phillies to move on.
