According to The Sports Xchange notes: RHP Brett Myers has been struggling since opening day, prompting Phillies pitching coach Rich Dubee to suggest he do more long-toss between starts. Manager Charlie Manuel concurs. Myers, 2-2 with a 5.11 ERA in six starts, long-tosses for only a few minutes on the day he pitches. Dubee wants him to long-toss three times a week. "Long-toss is a way to build your arm. I'm very big on long-toss," Manuel said. "He may want to look into something that's definitely going to keep his core stronger, and long-tossing is one of them." [...]

After meeting Friday with general manager Ruben Amaro Jr., free agent Brett Myers was told that the Phillies will not attempt to re-sign him. Myers spent eight seasons in Philadelphia, going 73-63 with a 4.40 ERA in 1,183 2/3 innings split between the rotation and bullpen. When healthy he's a qualify third or fourth starter and potential late-inning reliever, but injuries and off-field issues no doubt convinced the Phillies to move on.
