Our View: Ortiz left Tuesday's game early to be with his daughter in the hospital, but he was apparently slated to sit this game out anyway with lefty Brett Anderson on the mound. Adam LaRoche will play first, Kevin Youkilis will man the hot corner and Mike Lowell will take over DHing duties for the night. Be sure to adjust your lineups accordingly.

Brett Anderson had a perfect game spoiled in the seventh inning against the Angels on Sunday, but he did not factor into the decision as the Halos beat the A's 1-0 in ten innings. Anderson finished with a line of eight innings, no runs allowed on two hits, and six strikeouts.

Our View: This has to be a tough one to swallow for Anderson and the A's, as he was dominant for eight innings and the team was unable to get him a win. He has now pitched 12 scoreless innings in his last two starts, but he has no wins to show for his troubles. He is starting to look like a legitimate fantasy option, as he has shown the ability to dominate as of late.

If there was any concern about the rookie's lower back stiffness affecting his game, there shouldn't be after his latest effort in which the 21-year-old southpaw took a perfect game into the seventh. Anderson has more than lived up to the hype that accompanied his arrival to the bigs this year and has given up just one earned run in his past 26 1/3 innings. The young lefty has established himself as a must-start in all formats, so throw him out there on July 24 when he next takes the hill against the Yankees.

Brett Anderson was phenomenal Monday, twirling a two-hit shutout against the Red Sox at Fenway Park with a career-high nine strikeouts to improve to 5-7.

Analysis: Not bad for a 21-year-old rookie making his first trip to Beantown. The first half has been filled with growing pains for Anderson, but he seems to be learning all the right lessons if Monday is any indication. Defeating John Smoltz can�t hurt his confidence much, either. With Anderson�s K/BB ratio improving to 61/24 on the season, there�s reason to believe his 4.86 will continue to fall during the second half as he settles down in the A�s rotation. Wait to see how the young southpaw fares against a dangerous Rays lineup next time out before jumping on the bandwagon.
