The Associated Press reports Oakland Athletics SP Brett Anderson allowed a run on four hits and four walks while fanning seven in 5 1/3 innings to get the win over the Detroit Tigers Monday, June 29. Anderson's velocity was much better after having eight days since his last start.

Rookie left-hander Brett Anderson turned in 5 1/3 solid innings and and second baseman Mark Ellis homered as the A's snapped a five-game losing streak with a 7-1 victory over the Tigers on Monday.

Brett Anderson struck out seven in 5 1/3 innings against Detroit on Monday, and allowed just one earned run on four hits and four walks.
Analysis: Anderson had some issues with the strike zone on Monday, throwing just 58 of his 107 pitches for strikes, but this was a pretty solid start in just about every other way. While Anderson remains unable to work deep into games, he's now put together a pair of solid starts. He looks like a solid spot start against the struggling Indians on July 5, in Cleveland.

Brett Anderson only surrendered one earned run on four hits over 5.1 innings in Monday's 7-1 win over the Tigers at McAfee Coliseum. He issued four walks and fired seven strikeouts.
Our View: The rookie enjoyed a strong outing despite the four free passes. He ended a three-game skid without earning a win, and improves to 4-7 for the season. He is worth consideration for AL-only leagues for his next turn in the A's rotation.
