Mychael Urban, of MLB.com, reports Oakland Athletics SS Bobby Crosby has been working with former MLB 1B Mark McGwire during the offseason and has adopted a new approach at the plate. His stance now has a distinctive crouch and has helped to keep his swing more compact. "It's a little more in my legs, and I'm taking a direct path to the ball. In the past, I took a longer route," Crosby said. "It's a lot shorter, a lot quicker. It feels awesome."

The San Francisco Chronicle's Susan Slusser reports Oakland Athletics SS Bobby Crosby has been working out with OF Matt Holliday and former MLB 1B Mark McGwire in the offseason. Holliday said Crosby has improved since they began working out. Crosby said one thing he has worked on is a slightly more spread stance to get a solid base and to stay shorter to the ball. "From what I've seen, it's a drastic difference," Holliday said of Crosby. "The ball is coming off his bat well. He looks great to me, I think it's helped him a lot and it looks like he's getting confidence. From the first day to now, he looks a lot different."

Matt Holliday has been hitting with Bobby Crosby in Southern California, and the new member of the Athletics praised the shortstop, according to the SF Chronicle. Holliday said, "From what I've seen, it's a drastic difference. The ball is coming off his bat well. He looks great to me, I think it's helped him a lot and it looks like he's getting confidence. From the first day to now, he looks a lot different."Crosby could bounce back with better numbers after suffering through a disappointing 2008 campaign, but still won't likely be productive enough to consider in anything but deeper AL-only leagues.
