Casey, who served in a reserve role for the Red Sox in 2008, hit .322 with no homers and 17 RBIs in 199 at-bats. Colon spent more of his season rehabbing from various injuries than he did on the mound. When healthy, he was effective, going 4-2 with a 3.92 ERA for the Red Sox. When the Red Sox informed Colon in late September that he'd be used out of the bullpen for the rest of the season, he left the team and went home to the Dominican Republic. At that point, the Red Sox put him on the suspended list.
