Colon has been inconsistent all season and struggled in his last start June 7, when he allowed five earned runs on eight hits and one walk with three strikeouts against Cleveland. Jose Contreras will take Colon�s turn in the starting rotation and Poreda, a starter in the Minor Leagues, will work out of the bullpen. The rookie has been impressive in Double-A this season with a 2.38 ERA and 69 strikeouts in 64 1/3 innings. He should merit mixed-league consideration if he moves into a starting role for the White Sox.

Updating a previous report, Bartolo Colon has been placed on the 15-day disabled list due to swelling in his left knee according to the Chicago Tribune. The Sox were expected to make a move regarding Colon after they called up top prospect Aaron Poreda.

Our View: Colon has been solid, but highly unspectacular in 2009, especially recently. This DL trip, coupled with Poreda's promotion, probably puts an end to his fantasy relevancy for the season.

After getting roughed up in three of his his last four starts, the Chicago Sun-Times is reporting that Bartolo Colon will likely have his rotation spot taken by the recently called up Aaron Poreda.

Our View: Overall, Colon has had a decent 2009, going 3-6 with a 4.23 ERA. But he has been pitching progressively worse, and with the super talented Poreda waiting in the wings, the Sox obviously no longer see any reason to keep guessing every five days which Colon will show up. He is not worth holding onto should this move to come to fruition.

Bartolo Colon was touched for six runs (five earned) in five innings on Sunday. Four of the eight hits he allowed left the yard and he was handed his sixth loss of the season as Chicago fell 8-4 to the Indians.

Our View: Colon held a 3.47 ERA for the month of May, but has been beat up in his two June starts. He's been good at times this season, but remains a risky fantasy play.

Chicago GM Kenny Williams believes the Sox have a good enough team to win, according to the Chicago Sun-Times. Williams said, "I think we have enough talent out there to win. Some people want to believe it. I believe it right now, and I will believe it until I say, 'You know what? I don't think we can do this. I think right now we have a good ballclub, especially with the way the division is playing out right now. We should be like 20 games out, and we are hanging in there. That is why I take a positive out of a negative."

Our View: The Sox are only 5-5 over their last 10 games, but are still only 3.5 games back in the AL Central standings. Bartolo Colon will take the hill today against the rival Indians, and he will be aiming for his fourth win of the season.

Gavin Floyd pitched well in Monday's 6-2 win over Oakland at U.S. Cellular Field, as he only allowed two earned runs on four hits over seven innings. He had three walks and fired eight strikeouts.

Our View: He exited the game tied at 2-2, and it is a shame he was dealt a no-decision rather than a win. Bartolo Colon was originally supposed to go tonight, and he will now start Tuesday's game.
