Jones is taking advantage of the extra playing time with Josh Hamilton nursing a rib-cage injury, an opportunity that could yield big rewards. Considering how well Jones is seeing the ball at the moment (11/8 BB/K ratio), it's not difficult to imagine a comeback campaign. Hamilton will miss the next few games, all but guaranteeing a spot in the lineup for the former Braves slugger.

Manager Ron Washington said he wants Jones in the lineup on Wednesday against Orioles left-hander Mark Hendrickson. Both of Jones' starts this season have been at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington. He was 3-for-5 in his first start and is now 15-for-33 with four home runs and 12 RBIs in eight career games at the Ballpark. Six of those games were while he was with the Braves. Now he's the Rangers' fifth outfielder waiting for chances to come off the bench and is worth watching in mixed formats if he can crack the potent Texas lineup on a regular basis.

Our View: Jones managed to strike out 76 times in 209 at-bats a season ago so the fact that any team wants him around is a tribute to him. The fact that Catalanotto is being sacraficed for his spot is too bad, as Jones figures to be nothing but the anchor at the end of the Rangers bench.

Our View: The Rangers also have Marlon Byrd and Frank Catalanotto hoping to land roster spots as reserve outfielders, so it will be interesting to see how it plays out. The Rangers would likely be willing to move some hitters in exchange for help in the rotation or bullpen.
