Recently the Cubs have had not much to worry about, but if there is one thing it has been the spotty defense of Alfonso Soriano. In the last week Soriano has made two errors on fairly-routine plays. According to the Chicago Sun-Times Lou Piniella has repeatedly said that he will not replace Soriano late in games for defensive purpose.Unless you are in a fantasy league with defensive stats there is no way Soriano should not be in your starting line-up.

Alfonso Soriano said Monday that he's excited about the possibility of having Rudy Jaramillo as the Cubs' hitting coach. ‘‘That’s going to be good news,’’ said the outfielder, who worked with Jaramillo in Texas. ‘‘We had very good communication because he speaks Spanish. He’s very good and smart. He works very hard, too.’’ Soriano hit just .241 with 20 homers last season for the Cubs. During two years with the Rangers, and under the guidance of Jaramillo, he hit .274 with 64 home runs.
